| | I saw The Simpsons movie now and while it wasn't hilarious, it was at least better than I had expected.
Like what Tulzie said, it felt like it was just a really long episode - it didn't feel like it was anything special (even the story) other than how long it was.
But going into it I had felt it would be the final stone in the grave. Fortunately, it didn't turn out quite like that since it was ok.
I stopped watching The Simpsons during season 17, when the series was completely and utterly shit. I haven't even watched an episode from 18 because the last shit I've seen of it frightens me. Season 15 was going way down hill, 16 was the beginning of the end and 17 was enough for me to just say "fuck this". I'm not into contemporary pop-culture so the show has nothing to offer me anymore since that is the way it has turned. Once upon a time they would parodize popular classic films, plays and other tidbits from culture throughout this century, but the latest seasons are nothing but a showcase of what's "hip" today - and I hate what's hip today. No, I don't want to see another lame pop band guest performance by some lamo band like Greenday or anything else, thank you.
But that is the series...
As for the movie... Well, it was LOL funny at some parts but never LMAO funny.
It was decent enough to watch, although its sad to say that the funniest part for me was Bart writing on the chock board "I will not illegally download this movie", since I of course did.
I'm glad they didn't get my money at least because I might have felt ripped off.
It earns a 5 out of 10, which is better than I had expected, since I was expecting it to be a total and complete stinker.~~~~~~~~~~ The problem with the world is that the fanatics are so arrogantly sure of themselves, while the open-minded individual remains filled with doubts.
