Anyone here have a Mac?

If you do, what type do you have, and what do you think about it (both performance, software, in comparison to Windows, etc)?

I'll be getting one shortly... Probably when I get paid.

Since I got an iPhone just yesterday, and since I will need a good Safari development environment for the software package I will be releasing, it has gotta happen.

I still refuse to actually pay for Windows in any way, which is what I'd do if I bought a PC laptop. Especially since I refuse to have anything with Vista (not just because of it's slow file system processes, but because of all it's DRM). Plus, Mac sells laptops with customization that PCs don't have here. I can get a US keyboard, which is really important to me, since this is what I am used to for coding. So that's why I will be getting one.

I can't wait because my iPhone is basically just a phone right now. I can't even buy apps from the App Store because I need an itunes account to download, and apparently you can't get an itunes account through the web. You seem to need the itunes software to create an itunes account, which is not possible for me since my desktop is running Ubuntu and so is NeroAnimas.

So anyways, I'm just curious who has a Mac, because I will likely be joining that club really soon.

Well, actually I don't do any flash programming at all, so that isn't a problem for me.

There isn't anything that can stand up against Adobe Photoshop on Linux. The GIMP is a really weak competitor that can't do a hundredth of what Photoshop has, and it is really unintuitive and more complicated than it needs to be. Needless to say, I actually don't do much at all with graphic creation anymore. I can pull of simple resizings, color changes and crops with GIMP without a problem, but if I am doing to do something really flashy or complicated I just cry and whine about how I don't have anything.

Well, actually, I just installed a Windows partition a couple weeks back since I needed to in order to run itunes. Because of this, I can just reboot (dual boot) to get into Windows and tinker with Photoshop.

I really haven't been using Photoshop or graphics programs much at all in the past year.

That is another reason I'd like to get a Mac; I assume Photoshop is present on Mac since I know Macs were generally known in the beginning for graphic programs.

what is your solution for flash programming and what can compete with adobe's PS on linux? (have tried the linux version of Corel but it wont budge, only hangs, and I dont find gimp satisfying)

Lev (16:39): working on trying to get some documentation up for theia (so there is at least some vague information available when i launch it). course now i was thinking, after realizing that a lot of the writing might be too techncial for some ppl.. that i wouldnt mind someone proofreading some stuff if they're bored either.. cause i just caught several typos in the last thing i wrote.. it just feels like nonstop writing, and im not even like 1% done. least it doesnt all have to be done anytime
