I, for one, demand more than hocus pocus, smoke screens - or in other words: faith - to base a belief.
With that said, I'm undecided, because I see no evidence to say he did, and the lack of evidence which would be used to say he didn't could be taken either way.
I think that he may or may not have, but the one thing that I am more confident of is that if he did exist, his followers misinterpreted much of what he taught or said.
I also do not doubt the possibility of alien intervention throughout humanity's religious paths. It's quite possible, or even probably one could argue, that Jesus or other religious figures were aliens.
That could also explain why we have no traces of him. Perhaps his disappearance and "return to the heavens" could literally mean, he went back up with the mother ship. I don't say that in a jokingly "heaven's gate" sort of way, but as a literal possibility, as there is a lot of evidence to suggest aliens played a part in the role of religion.
