Fortunately this hasn't really been an issue for us here on TT.

However, since Theia is going to be released to a much broader audience, it is essential that a "block" tool is included.

I've refrained from adding this already because I seem to have different ideas about what blocking members should do.

What do you think blocking a member should do?

- prevent private messages from them?
- ignore their messages in a chat room or the chatter box?
- hide items they've posted?
- hide posts they've made?

what else?

When we had an "ignored" list in the past, it would go all out and hide items and responses made by users on your ignored list as well... Is this something you agree with and should be done if the use is blocked, or should blocking a user just prevent them from contacting you or talking with you in chat?

when i was playing FF online, when i block somebody everything that they say or posted was totally block from my chatting log.

if i decide to block someone that just means i dont care to read what they say, therefore all items created by the block member would be unviewable to me.

if only you can write a program like this for my real life situation lol

Actually, I think we are talking about different things here. When I meant blocking members, I meant a mechanism members can employ against one another (for example, to prevent harassment). I think you may have interpreted what I said as a banning system from the site altogether (which we already have and use only sparingly; only those who have spammed TT or tried exploits have been banned so far).

Perhaps it should be a personal option, and the person can choose how extensive they want to ignore a user.
