thankfully, it didn't snow on top of the ice.. well there was a dusting of snow, but nothing major. we were stuck for at least the first 2 days, but then we managed to get the car out of the driveway (which is a slight hill) and were able to go to the store for water and such.

my hubby said that they get smacked with ice storms every 5 or 6 years.. so in the next 4 years, i think we need to think about moving LOL

Our ice storm I should have taken pictures in. It was awful. We had like an inch of ice almost and 7 inches of snow on top. We went nowhere. But our power stayed on.

That and all sorts of our days this winter last were COLD. Cincinnati gets some cold snaps but I almost thought the river would freeze over. One snap it was like minus 8 degrees and in the daytime it only got to 10 degrees. For liketwo days or so. I think we went over two weeks at one point below freezing.

we were without all power for 7 days, but without water (because we have wells out here, and the ice broke something that connected the well to electricity) for almost 3 weeks all together.

no matter how much you love someone, being stranded in a cold & dark house for a week makes you think about murder.. especially when all you have to occupy yourself is a Scrabble game and a deck of cards.. i don't even want to talk about how many games of Go Fish! i played that week.

and living in the country is nice (especially with all the wild animals we see in our yard.. we've had road runners, deer, rabbits.. it's the 30 minute drive to anything worth a damn that kills me.

For how long where you guys without electricity? I wouldn't mind that for a day or two but any longer then I probably get bored.

That sounds awesome, I wished I lived like that instead of in an apartment.

Oh my, if we got it that cold over here I would nag and complain until Lev's ears fell off. I'm not to keen on cold weather anymore, haha, I'm getting old.

Do you live on the country side so to speak? It looks so calm and peaceful around there, judging from the pics.

hubby just said it was about 10 degrees out.. possibly colder. I have a bunch more that i am going to post.. it was beautiful but very very scary because we were out of electricity for a week and we heard a lot of snaps and crackles from tree limbs popping and falling.

a good 90% of the power poles along the highway were snapped clean in half (too bad i didn't get pictures of that!)

we had pics like that this winter. Here we had a pretty bad one too that snapped all the pine trees. It wascrazy looking.
