A List Of Recommended Documentary's

Here is a list of a few documentary's that i've seen over the past year that i'd recomment everyone to check out. I've listed them by topic. If you have any others to add or recommend for me to check out. Post the name/link and i'll watch them/add them to this list.

War/Oil
THE END OF SUBURBIA: Oil Depletion and the Collapse of The American Dream
Why We Fight
Loose Change
The Fog Of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara

News Networks
Control Room
OUTFOXED: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism

Corporations
The Corporation
WAL-MART: The High Cost of Low Price
Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room

I left out some of the more well known ones like Fahrenheit 911/Bowling For Columbine and whatnot. Everyones seen them so there isnt much point in adding them.

Agree with Enron - The Smartest Guys In The Room and The Corporation... How about the Seven Up series (the british one is better than the American one I think? But maybe thats because there have only been 3 installments of the American one yet). If you havent seen the 7 up series I highly recommend it.

That's a great list, and I'll second the motion on all of them, ESPECIALLY The Corporation.

I saw Michael Moore's "Sicko" seven times in the theatre.
I liked it even better than Fahrenheit 911. It's been in theatres about three months now so it 'll probably be out on DVD in about as many months.

Peace,
Kevin

I've always been a fan of movies and got into documentary a few years ago but in the past little while i've been obsessed with them also. Outfoxed was made in america. same producer as Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price.

The Century Of The Self: this 4 part BBC documentary is really good. click the link for a description. I found it on www.mininova.org. its a torrent site

http://www.freedocumentaries.org/ you can find a torrent of Control Room and Outfoxed on that site along with a few other intresting documentaries. I liked the bio on Dick Cheney. I havent finshed downloading the others yet.

also check out Martial Law - 911 Rise Of The Police State It starts out kinda like loose change but goes way more indepth on why it all happened and who was really behind it 9/11.

The Power of Nightmares - The Rise of the Politics of Fear seems really good but i only got to see the first part of it so far. the other two parts were corrupted so i have to redownload it.

Great post. I'm glad someone posted a thread about documentaries since I seem to be obsessed with them.

I believe I have seen "The Corporation", if it is a film based around the book by Noam Chomsky. There are also a few other good documentaries with him that I've seen such as "Manufacturing Consent" and another I can't think of at the moment.

is the Outfoxed documentary American, Swedish or other? I wonder because I saw a documentary on swedish TV a year or so ago about Rupert Murdoch and his use of power and wealth to make Fox a bias right-wing brainwashing machine. Is this the same documentary? I'm searching for it now on Direct Connect but I don't think I am sharing enough yet to get into any decent sized hubs.

Any chance you have this documentary still and could it to me somehow? I can setup an FTP account so you could upload it to the server if you have it. I'd love to see the whole thing as I've only seen a few minutes of it, but it looked really good.

Out of a total coincidence, I attempted to download "Why we fight" and have had it on my DC queue for a few days now. That one sounded interesting and I didn't even bother remembering it was one you posted about.

My other favorite documentaries include some of the following:

BBC Series - The human body (7 parts I believe), covers life , puberty, sexual attraction, the evolution of the human brain, death and so on. This was a really great series.

BBC Series - The Planets (9 parts)
1 - Different Worlds
2 - Terra Firma
3 - Giants
4 - Moon
5 - Star
6 - Atmosphere
7 - Life
8 - Destiny
9 - Richard Feyman interview

Some other good space documentaries:

Supermassive black holes (discovery)
Understanding the Universe (discovery)
If we had no moon (discovery)
Are we alone? (IMAX)

Damn, I really wish someone had posted a thread about documentaries months ago before I had to format and installed Linux. I had well over 50 gigs of documentaries and a load more I can't think of now that I probably would have recommended.

If I think of anymore I will be sure to post 'em. I'm a total documentary nut. Aside from the news, documentaries are about the only thing I will watch.
