The actual movie itself focuses on a man named Jaguar Paw and tells the story of how his village is sacked by another tribe. His child and wife are left behind in an inescapable cavern (at least from the inside, its sort of a vertical shaft) and he must somehow find his way back to them before being sacrificed as many before him.
Over all, it was a great movie in my opinion. A bit of gore in some places, but I think it helped to highlight the savagery of their way of life and how tribal society worked back then.
Oh, and in parting.. this movie seriously made me laugh at one point. It was incredibly serious and then out of nowhere I can't help but randomly say, "Hah! Cat ate your face.." and my friend nearly died laughing. Anyway.. its a good movie, you should rent it if you havent yet.
Here is a link to it on the Internation Movie Database --- "Apocalypto" has been viewed times ---
