I have been waiting for this game ever since I heard about a year or so back when it was announced and discussed in a gaming magazine I read. Back then the magazine basically made it out just to be a "tech demo" which would showcase the 360's horse power and ability to have hundreds of zombies at one time without choking. But damn, is the game quite a bit more than just a tech demo.
If you have a 360 and a zombie fetish you probably own Dead Rising by now, but for those of you who don't you really should consider picking it up.
I've been a Resident Evil fan since the original (even though the series is really turning into rubbish really quickly), and I have to say that I think Dead Rising is going to leave me feeling a bit "alone" when I go back to Resident Evil 5. If you're used to the whole concept of a zombie here or there spread out threw a mansion and the possibility to waltz through several rooms and coridors without bumping into any undead, then Dead Rising is going to take some getting used to.
To sum up Dead Rising, you are photo-journalist who's landed a big scoop. Appearantly a mall has become completely infested with zombies and you aim to check it out and take pictures of what you find. During the game you are basically running around everywhere and trying to rescue as many civilans as you can in the 72 game hours you have before your helicopter ride comes back. There is also a story and main missions you are supposed to follow, but there is also a lot of extra time over for you to help out other survivors (not to mention trying on womens clothes).
The zombies are everywhere. Left and frigging right; except for the security room where you bring all the people you rescued back to. The zombies are not all that hard to kill and they are mainly there to be in your way of where you need to go. Sometimes there are literally HUNDREDS of zombies on screen at a single time without the system choking at all. It's actually quite amazing sometimes to see how much is moving on screen without any lag.
Killing zombies can be done in countless ways. Apart from the bare-handed physical power moves you can do on them as you level up, you also can pick up hundreds of items throughout the mall to use as weapons. See a lawn mower? Pick it up and run over a dozen or so. Bowling balls, cars, metal pipes, guns, katanas, axes, paint cans, boxes, funny masks, baseball bats, skateboards, bicycles... the list just goes on and on.
Oddly enough, every single boss fight in the game is not with a zombie but a complete psychopath that has flipped because of the zombies.
In my opinion, this is a must own 360 game. I've beaten it already once and I am nearing completion again (there are multiple endings and tons of people to rescue which you can't do in a single game so it is worth it).
Zombie fans will not be dissapointed. Definately check it out. Also, word is it will make its way to the PS3 as well! weeee
I love dressing up Frank in one of the many dresses you can find in clothing stores and wearing a funny mask found in a toy store while beating the shit out of zombies. Maybe that's just me, though..
hehehe

Have you ever seen the original Dawn of the Dead? It came out in like the 80s, it is good for an old zombie movie. They have some wicked gory zombie movies out like Day of the Dead, that one is pretty cool.
