So, lately I have been thinking about getting my own dog. I'm currently debating this over and over in my head as it is a big decision and I do not want to do something that might ended up with a dog feeling bad.
Since we still live in an apartment I am mainly looking for a smaller dog as I feel that it would be wrong to have a huge dog in a small space.

I'm just wondering what type of dogs you guys have?
Do you have the responsibility for it alone or is it owned by family?
How did the training go?
Do you recommend this?
What type of breeds to do you prefer?

Just overall thoughts on getting a dog, negative and positive aspects of it.

This is the breed that I'm currently thinking of and debating getting

Swedish Vallhund

So, any thoughts and opinions are welcome! (No, Lev, I won't wanna hear that you don't walk the dog)

Well myself and my boyfriend.

How did the training go?
wonderfull. I trained them myself. it takes a while on the outside pottying thing but everything else goes pretty smoothly. My dogs are trained to do pretty much anything. [ex. 1)you can tell all three of them to sit, show them a peice of food, throw it across the room and tell 1 of them to "come and get it" {thats the actual comand} and whichever one you told is the only one that moves 2) if were in the car and their being annoying say "cops!" and theyll get in the floor {or back seat if theres no room} when you say "theyre gone" they get back in your lap.] they listen extremly well, because they were trained to. and they always look you in the eye, again how they were trained.

Do you recommend this?
Lots of poeple send their dogs to a 'specialist' to be trained I think you should do it your self, its part of the bonding process [people offer to pay us to train their dogs all the time, but there people we know not complete strangers] then they say they 'dont have the time' the way I see it if you dont have time to train your dog you dont have time for your dog therefor you shouldnt have a dog.

I love big breeds!
but small [well small-ish medium] dogs are awsome. like beagles or terriers. and there better for if you live in an appartment. The only thing with smaller dogs is alot of them are noisy and hyper as hell. so I suggest being very particular in your choise of pup. you dont want one thats gonna yap till your neighbors threaten to hang you, or one thats gonna get bored while your @ work and chew up your couch and shoes and underwear [or all levs comp/gameing equipment]. Most ppl get rambunctious dogs and when they cant get them to 'act right' they just stick them in a pin [or kennel] all day, and thats no way for a dog to live.

But all in all dogs are great pets. [theyre right there with cats, cats are great cuz they pretty much take care of them selves but theyre not near as much fun to play with as dogs.] you just have to make sure you get a pet that suits your life style and habitat. And definatly make sure you dont get any thing that might eat the degus!!!!!
Oh its also been my experiance that muts make MUCH better pets than full-blooded dogs. I mean think about it, nobody wants muts right? theyre just gratefull to have a home. Full-blooded expinsive dogs think their hot shit and they rule the roost [like cats,only worse cuz theyre louder]. So, before you dish out the dollars look into adopting or sumthin its cheaper and you usually end up with a better dog. Just steer clear of the ones who have been rescued from a natural disaster or some horible something, alot of the time they end up being a hell of a hand full, and harder to train. {unless you have the time and energy to invest in the training}
A friend of mine got a dog a while back that was rescued when katrina hit louisiana. and that dog is a fucking hand full. and hes big and hes loud and hes rough [hell hurt you w/o meaning to] and it didnt help that he was already grown when they got him. but yea dont let your big heart get the better of you when choosing a dog, use your head. alot.

ok Ill shut up know.
