Ok, well i'm sure you have all heard, google now operates in China, which is one step closer to freedom of informatio for all, or so you would think. Google, who are fighting so hard in the states to keep the identity of all users secret, has betrayed the free information population by adding filters into its Chinese site so as not to leak anything the Chinese communist government dont want eaching the earsof its population. The British government, however, signed a treaty with this same government allowing trade on the premise that China would become a democracy, at least its twisted form that most of us know, sometime in our lifetime. good start if you ask me. I wonder if the Chinese public will ever know the truth of Tiennamen Square, or any other such atrocity?

holy fuck! the fact the chinese do this is a disgrace, but no surprise. the fact that while in one country google are fighting for the freedom of rite for its users and in another trshing them totally is unbelieveable. Welcome to the vision shared by George Orwell and Aldous Huxley

HOLY SHIT

That is unbelievable.

Damn, I am so glad you posted that, darwin. That's a real real shame.

Anyone who is curious to see how much a government can control media and information definately has to check out those two links darwin posted. A complete night and day difference.

I often wonder the same things.

Actually, I didn't hear of this yet, but I'm glad you posted it.

I really wonder how the minds of the average China-men work as well. I really wouldn't be surprised if they have deep dark thoughts which lurk in the back of their minds which wonder about many things they don't know about. I would imagine many of the more intellectual Chinese to be quite like those minds of 1984, living in fear, wondering the unknown, yet subdued by control. It must be a shame to never have a wealth of ideas surrounding you, a variety of religions to choose from and different political ideas to take part in.

I hope that they too will at least get to know that other ideas exist out there and other voices crying for change as well.

It sucks that google is doing what it is doing, but sadly, it is just a company out to make business. They know they can't make business well if they don't follow the necessary guidelines to do business in various places in the world. It would be a nicer sight to one day see a company which refuses to conduct business on the grounds of standing by just principles (a la freedom of information). It's a shame that they bend simply to profit further.

Hopefully everyone in china will one day know that a pavilion of ideas exist out there which challenge the very fabric of their society.
