| | | I often wonder the same things.
Actually, I didn't hear of this yet, but I'm glad you posted it.
I really wonder how the minds of the average China-men work as well. I really wouldn't be surprised if they have deep dark thoughts which lurk in the back of their minds which wonder about many things they don't know about. I would imagine many of the more intellectual Chinese to be quite like those minds of 1984, living in fear, wondering the unknown, yet subdued by control. It must be a shame to never have a wealth of ideas surrounding you, a variety of religions to choose from and different political ideas to take part in.
I hope that they too will at least get to know that other ideas exist out there and other voices crying for change as well.
It sucks that google is doing what it is doing, but sadly, it is just a company out to make business. They know they can't make business well if they don't follow the necessary guidelines to do business in various places in the world. It would be a nicer sight to one day see a company which refuses to conduct business on the grounds of standing by just principles (a la freedom of information). It's a shame that they bend simply to profit further.
Hopefully everyone in china will one day know that a pavilion of ideas exist out there which challenge the very fabric of their society.~~~~~~~~~~ "In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand, at the mongrel dogs who teach, fearing not I'd become my enemy, in the instant that I preach. My existence led by confusion boats, mutiny from stern to bow. Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now." - Bob Dylan
