This guide will go over essentially everything we feature at Tainted Thoughts that you might not know about and will help you get started with whatever you are looking for or trying to do!

· [ Login / Logout ]
Logging in requires that your browser has cookie support! If you have disabled cookies, enable them to login! It is absolutely necessary! If cookies are enabled and you still can't login, try lowering your security settings in Internet Options. `Stealth login` will hide your name from appearing on the recent login list (usually to the left on the site). It will also automatically enter you into stealth mode. Look below for info on stealth mode. When you login, you will remain logged in until you close that browser window. To logout you can either close your web browser or click here.

· [ Enable Stealth Mode ]
Stealth mode allows you to be logged into the site, yet remain invisible from other members (and admins) from seeing you as "online". To perform many tasks on the site and to get access to many areas you need to be logged on, but for privacy reasons maybe you don't want other members or people to know you are online at the moment. This is where stealth mode comes in handy!

· [ Changing / Editing Your User Info / Settings ]
It's very important to set your timezone as well as many other options which are important on the site. To edit your profile settings login and click `member services`. Then click the `edit profile` button. The timezone is based on GMT (England). If you live in California or on the west coast USA select -9. If you live on the east coast USA such as New York then set your timezone to -6. If you live in Germany or Sweden set your timezone to 1. You should also select the method of site notification you would prefer. When items are added to the site in sections & forums you request or if you receive responses to your items in sections you request you may enable notifications to get a quick email or TT message letting you know the item was added or your item received a response. Choosing the notification method is handy for those of you who wish to get a message on the site but don't want their email box cluttered up. Checking the "approved items" box will give you notifications for whenever your items are approved / added to the site. The signature you enter will be displayed with all your posts on the site. It may contain HTML & emoticon code.

· [ Setting Up Your Profile ]
Complete guide with screenshots detailing how to create a profile item and link to it from your profile settings to have it enabled. TIP: IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS YOUR PROFILE WILL NOT HAVE A COUNTER!

· [ Submit / Add An Item To The Site ]
If you look around, on most of the pages you will see icons or buttons with a click link to submit/add items to the section you are in. You may also submit items by using the above link, or by using the form on member services. When submitting an item to the site, the item must first be approved by an administrator of that section before it is added to the site. Usually all items are added under 24 hours. Make sure you are submitting your item to the appropriate section. Submitting specifically types of items (site functions, journal entries, gallery images) will be approved and added instantly to the site. The majority of all forums/hubs also add items to the site instantly upon submission, but it is up to the hub operator(s) if they want to allow instant addition or addition by approval. Don't be shy; add your items today! You may add up to 25 items to the site a day!

· [ Creating A Poll / Initiative ]
Polls can be created for various reasons; simply to ask a yes or no question and have users vote on it for your own curiousity's sake as well as to perform special site tasks. Members, for example, are approved through the use of voting on polls (however, only admins have the ability to vote on member applications). Members still do, however, have the ability to vote on all other polls / initiatives; including those to remove items, terminate members, nominate a member for administration as well as strip the admin of their administration status. The purpose of polls is to let the community of the site have a more in depth relationship with how their society functions. If they feel a member has been harassing other people and in no way contributes to the productivity and free-spirit of the community, then other members (you don't even have to be an admin) have the right to create a new poll / initiative to have them removed! If more people vote to remove the member, they are terminated. Members may also challenge an administrator's authority by creating an initiative to remove them from administration! The purpose of these polls and initiatives is simple; it's our way of making sure those in charge of administering the site aren't "corrupt" and don't simply do as they want. If you would like to create a poll now just fill out this short form! We also allow you to create initiatives anonymously so that no one else (including admins) will know who started the initiative!

· [ Setting Up A Journal ]

You can change how the site looks when you browse it! We will provide you with many free themes to use, but if you are a webmaster we'd love if you added your own for others to use!

This explains what the colored stars are with each member post, how to get them and what the decimal numbers mean with each post.

· [ Increase Your Inbox Capacity ]
This an be easily acheived by rating items on the site. Click the link for more info.

If you aren't happy with the hubs / forums / portals we have then you are more than welcome to create your own! Just click the link above! Keep the forum active or we may close it down!

· [ Add Your Web Site To Our Search Engine! ]
Increase your site's exposure by adding it to our search engine! It's quick, free and works! You can also upload a banner too, which will increase your click-through rate. We ask for a link back to Tainted Thoughts on your site, but it is not required. Although it may increase your ratings! hehehe

· [ Chat / File Sharing (Download) Hub! ]

Information on how to get around the ban and list of schools banning TT. Is your's banning TT? Let us know.

This is probably the best place to meet other members.

We DO have an internet radio station and it's open and free for anyone to tune into. All you need is winamp! We will play a little bit of EVERYTHING; you will probably hear something you like and likely loads of stuff you've never heard before. We are currently playing [SC_SONG] and [SC_ON] people are tuned in.
