When governments fear the people there is liberty. When the people fear the government there is tyranny. -- Thomas Jefferson

So, it’s been a year since the dogs are in there. A year since the statue fell and the flag of occupation was waved.
The sides are being established. The population is slowly taking positions. Cities fell under some militia’s control and Americans&Cie had to abandon several sites. Sunnites are Shiites are unofficially united for the same cause.
The resistance is getting organised.
So organised that on Wednesday, Donald Rumsfeld, felt the need to assure us that the “coalition still controls Iraq”.
What we are facing now looks more like a (lovely) mishmash between an Intifada and a classic guerrilla.
Less than 90 days before the official creation of the Iraqi government, Washington is thinking about sending more troops on the field. The military mistakes are more frequent and less banal, the last one being the bombardment of a mosque… hard to get worse! U$ cannot leave decently the country and their stay will not be easy. The Americans are in an impasse.
And that is the best thing that happened in all this mess.
The more damage the Iraqi resistance can inflict to the coalition forces, the harder it will be for them to get popular support for their next imperialistic move.
No matter where it stands politically, the Iraqi resistance should be backed: fighting U$ imperialism is a priority. What will come after in the country’s future is not our responsibility. The Iraqis need to stand up for themselves. Fundamentalism is likely to be the very foundation of the current resistance, but that is not in our concerns. The only way to erase social forces is to let them rise and decline, following the basic lines of dialectics.
Just as long as you keep the dogs out.
On the imperialism level, “either you are with us or against us”.
