Spill the beans people, who legally or illegally aquires files? What programs do you use, and if you will, what are your handles, lets start a little TT ring.

I know some examples are DC++, Limewire, Kazza, ect. What do you use and why?

Haha, that is funny. And when I downloaded some programs from limewire they were noticably adware. In the installation thing it said Advertismen. Bitches.

I guess that is possible, but I thought that I got rid of all of my viruses, I mean, I got the same antivirus software that the government uses, which probably isn't saying much. But even before I finished downloading the files my auto protect would pop up saying that they were trojan horses or another various type and that they were quarentened. If it was in a zip, I scanned the whole thing prior to unzipping and inside it was a trojan, those bastards. They label them as perfectly legitimate illigal programs, that is wrong with those ass holes. Why do people purposefully make the world a worse place? It makes me wonder if some people are naturally born to make the place worse and some are born to make the place better. For some reason I find that even though I am not christian anymore, I still try to do good, and I still try to do the right thing. I dont really understand it... maybe it is as they say, you have a calling on your life.

I used to use Kazaa, Shareaza and Limewire. But they brought with them loads of viruses and spyware. Seriously. My computer died from using them, and as soon as I got rid of all of them, which was a task in itselfs, as the programs imbed themselves into your system, my computer was fine. Also I got fed up of downloading things like South Park episodes and then it would turn out to be a "GERMAN AND XXXX/ POLISH GAY GANG BANG XXXXXX" ha. "Jessica why have we got German/Polish gay gang bang footage on our computer" - My Dad.... Me: "Erm... what can I say, Limewire is a faggot."

It seems like every damn program that I download is a damn Trojan Horse or other type of crappy ass virus. Stupid good for nothing crap-heads.

It's actually quite possible that the files you are downloading are legitimate and contain no virus, but that your system has already been infected quite badly and it is attaching a virus onto any incoming executables. I would actually put my money on that as I know I've had a similar experience with that. You sorta get tricked into thinking you are just having bad luck finding things, but there is probably a nasty infection left somewhere that is causing this.

But then again, when it comes to file sharing, I will never trust any other program that DC clients for downloading pirated material as nearly every other version contains spy-ware or ad-ware of some sort and most people remain clueless to it.

quoting Neglection:

I try to use DC++ but I get no downloads, I can see hubs and enter them, but I cannot get any results when searching nor do I get anything when trying to download a persons file lists. I think they are both due to the same problem, I went through the faq and did what I could by finding my ip address and manually entering it, but it was to no avail. Any other program I use will work, got any suggestions. I am not using my own router, so I dont know if it is set up like it should, but limewire works, so it should be fine. I checked my firewall and I am good there, what else could it be?

To me, this definately sounds like a connection issue. I know from personal experience you can get ANYTHING on DC by tons of people. When I was sharing a lot (like 200+ gigs) I could get into a hub that had over 9000 users on regulary. Needless to say, it was very easy to get any file imaginable and almost always 500k/s or more.

I think your problem is because your connection through the router. If you are using a router then you have to manually select "active" mode in the DC++ settings if its not already selected. You may also need to enter your IP address manually. Plus, I know that I had a setup before here which required that I went into the routers configuration and routed the DC port(s) (up/down) to the local IP of the computer you want to use DC with. I'm pretty sure these ports are found somewhere in the DC++ options menu and I'm pretty sure 411 or 1414 is one of the DC ports by default

Actually.. I'd like to get a new computer soon for running windows because I need certain applications that I can't run now; if I get setup on a windows computer again soon, I will write out a simply little guide for you on this since I myself will connect through a router.

I started out my pirating with WinMX, but that went down a little less than a year ago, so I've been using LimeWire since then. I've gotten a few viruses from LimeWire, so I recently uninstalled that and installed FrostWire, which is basically a spyware-, adware-, etc. free software.

I like the layout and functioning of WinMX, but the download rates I get on Lime and FrostWire are much better. And WinMX was getting filled with junk downloads, too.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I'd like to use DC++ again. I will be getting a new computer anytime now. It can come in a day or it could come in a month but it must come soon.

Once I have the other computer setup, I will probably go on DC a lot more often. Right now I am never on because I have to use a program called Valknut, which sucks. I think one of the biggest reasons I don't do enough downloading is that there has always been something at the back of my head telling me that I may end up formatting again and losing all my data. It was all those bloody formats within a few months that permanently made me worried about saving too much cause then I'd have no way to keep it all.

But yeah, I can't wait to start seriously file sharing again. I might make a private TT hub or FTP connection so TT members can feel safe sharing between themselves. I hate the idea of being busted for file sharing, so I think it would be great to know everyone who is sharing isn't a narc.

DC++ is by far the best because it can do the absolute most, it's the fastest and it doesn't have ads, spyware or any of that other crap found in virtually every other file sharing program. Plus the whole concept of how it works through it's own protocol is much more slick than any of the other methods in my opinion.

I mainly us dc++ as I find that it does not have spy/adware like others like Imesh and Kazza. Never tried Limewire but heard others use it and say its pretty good. So if its on dc++ im down to share. TT had a hub on on dc before which was fun to share and get all Lev's porn.

That is a good idea, however, we would have to agree on a certain program or group of programs, which is why I started this out asking about which programs everyone uses and what is the advantage. But your idea is good, and I didn't even think of it, I am down once I get my laptop back out of the perverbial dirt.
