I Have No Idea Where To Post This So Here Is Where It Ended Up.....

You know how you get people who tell you smoking is bad ect.ect.ect. well i smoke and ive never listened to anyone i automaticlly shut off when someone starts speaking like that, but today in english at college we were set work on this poem by Elton Glaser "Smoking" and it actually got to me. It was just really strange....

...Smoking...

I like the cool and heft of it, dull metal on the palm,
And the click, the hiss, the spark fuming into flame,
Boldface of fire, the rage and sway of it, raw blue at the base
And a slope of gold, a touch to the packed tobacco, the tip
Turned red as a warning light, blown brighter by the breath,
The pull and the pump of it, and the paper's white
Smoothed now to ash as the smoke draws back, drawn down
To the black crust of lungs, tar and poisons in the pink,
And the blood sorting it out, veins tight and the heart slow,
The push and wheeze of it, a sweep of plumes in the air
Like a shako of horses dragging a hearse through the late centennium,
London, at the end of December, in the dark and fog.

The guy died of lung cancer ....

quoting Blem:

I don't mind it as long as they brush first. It's actually the smoky smell of their clothes that usually gets to me. And if they smoke in their home, bleh... tobacco sticks everywhere! pot is good tough.

Pot sticks pretty good too, I've walked by people and suspecting them of smoking just by the scent from their clothes.

no kidding. my mom and dad both smoked for as long as i can remember. when my mom passed, my dad still smoked, but now that he's remarried his wife won't let him smoke (but he still sneaks it sometimes) and it's a difference.
When my hubby and i lived in the apartment he was renting when i moved up here, he smoked like a freight train in there, and the apartment was already so tiny that it was held the smoke in the area and you could almost cut it with a knife sometimes.
but yea.. now i need Febreze Air Effects because my cat is the smelly one now.

Good thing he's sticking to his promise, or all the Fabreze can't even save your furnitures and clothes from smelly gross.

yea.. my hubby smokes.. like a freight train. maybe it's because just about any person i've dated/smooched.. whatever.. has smoked, maybe i've (sadly) become accustomed to it.. but the smoke on clothing never fails to disgust me. no matter who it is.

and luckily, my hubby and i made a deal before we were married, and before we moved into this house, that if we were able to find a house that he'd smoke outside for my sake. and he's stuck to it! YAY! but it's still a horrible horrible habit.

It was like licking an ash tray.

I've heard this so many times it's ridiculous.

Anyhow, that wasn't my point. My question was just, do you actually kiss ash trays? And if so, what for???

Interesting. Luckily I refuse to smoke. It's a very nasty habit. I've only kissed two guys who smoked, and it was IRRITATING as hell. Especially the first guy, because he had smoked for years. Yuck. It was like licking an ash tray.
